일론 머스크(테슬라 CEO)는 트위터 인수를 추진하는 결단을 내린 것으로 알려졌다.
일론 머스크는 4월에 트위터사 인수를 제안했지만 7월에는 "요구한 관련 비즈니스 정보를 트위터사 측은 제공하지 않았다" 등이라고 주장해 인수를 철회. 그러나 미 증권거래위원회(SEC) 서류에 따르면 당초 조건으로 일론 머스크는 인수 절차를 완료시킬 의향으로 이를 알리는 서한을 3일 트위터사에 발송했다.
트위터사는 일방적으로 인수가 철회된 뒤 당초 계약을 지키라고 일론 머스크를 제소했다. 이번 달 17일부터 법정에서 심리가 실시될 예정이었다. 일론 머스크는 어떤 이유로 다시 인수를 진행하겠다고 결단했는지는 아직 밝혀지지 않았다.
미국 CNBC가 입수한 정보에 따르면 소송이 종료됐으며 이르면 금요일 트위터 인수 계약이 완료될 수도 있다.
일론 머스크가 매수를 진행시킬 의향인 것이 보도된 직후 트위터사의 주가는 10% 이상 상승. 그 후에 매매가 일시 정지된 모양이지만 거래가 재개되자 52달러 초과까지 상승해 전일대비 약 22% 상승했다.

Elon Musk proposed the acquisition of Twitter in April, but withdrew the acquisition in July, claiming that "Twitter did not provide the relevant business information requested." Twitter filed a complaint against Elon Musk to keep the original contract after the acquisition was unilaterally withdrawn. The hearing was scheduled to take place in court from the 17th of this month. It is not yet clear why Elon Musk decided to proceed with the acquisition again. According to information obtained by CNBC in the U.S., the lawsuit has been terminated and the Twitter acquisition contract may be completed as early as Friday. Shares of Twitter rose more than 10 percent shortly after Elon Musk was reported willing to proceed with the purchase. Since then, sales seem to have been temporarily suspended, but when trading resumed, it rose to more than $52, up about 22% from the previous day.
