8주 연속 상승으로 6000만원을 넘긴 비트코인이 한때 8% 급락하며 주춤했다. ‘1억원도 넘본다’는 말이 나올 정도로 기대감을 키웠던 투자자들은 고점를 잡은 것 아니냐며 우려했다. 하지만 전문가들은 대세 상승장 진입을 앞두고 예견됐던 단기 조정이라고 입을 모았다. 2023년 12월 13일 업계에 따르면 비트코인은 전날 새벽 4시 특별한 악재 없이 500만원 넘게 빠지며 5500만원까지 밀렸다. 2년 만에 돌파한 6000만원을 일주일 가까이 유지하다 뚝 떨어진 것이다. 하루 낙폭 기준으로는 지난 8월 18일 이후 4개월 만에 최대치다. 주요 급락 요인으로는 차익 실현 매물이 거론된다. 비트코인이 지난주까지 8주 연속 올랐던 만큼 차익 실현을 위한 매도세가 두드러졌던 것이다. 최근 8주 동안 비트코인 상승률은 61.2%다. 실제로 코인글래스 데이터에 따르면 전날 하루 동안 청산된 롱 포지션은 3억5300만달러(4634억원)에 달한다. 이 또한 4개월 만에 최대 규모다.

 

조엘 크루거 LMAX그룹 시장 전략가는 “이번 하락으로 비트코인 가격이 과매수 수준에서 내려왔다”며 “이제부터 신고점을 향한 랠리가 이어질 수 있다”고 주장했다. 곧바로 반등이 이어질 것이라는 낙관론도 앞다퉈 나온다. 다음 달 승인이 예상되는 비트코인 현물 상장지수펀드(ETF)와 내년 4월 예정된 반감기, 긴축 종료 기대감 등에 따라 매수세가 커질 것이란 전망에서다. 맥디(Mac.D) 크립토퀀트 분석가는 “비트코인이 8% 급락했지만 펀더멘털 관점에서는 내년 1월 현물 ETF 승인 여부에 따라 비트코인을 매수하려는 수요가 넘치는 상황”이라며 “시장이 아직 과열 상태가 아니기 때문에 이번 조정 이후 곧 반등할 가능성이 높다”고 낙관했다. 크립토온체인(CryptoOnchain) 크립토퀀트 분석가 역시 “과도한 급등세로 단기적인 가격 조정이 있을 수 있지만 비트코인 거래소 출금량이 지속적으로 많다는 점에서 강세장으로 전환될 수 있다”고 내다봤다. 가상자산 거래소의 비트코인이 출금되고 있는 것은 매도될 수 있는 비트코인 양이 줄어듦을 뜻한다. 이는 그만큼 가격 하락을 유발하는 매도 압력이 감소하는 것을 시사한다. 한편 이번 급락은 이미 예견된 조정이었다는 의견도 나왔다. 현재 거래된 비트코인의 50% 이상은 구매 당시 가격이 현재보다 낮다는 점에서다. 비트코인을 산 투자자 절반 이상이 수익을 보고 있는 상황이다. 크립토퀀트는 전날 보고서를 통해 “비트코인 수익권 비율이 50%까지 상승했을 때 모두 최고점에서 조정을 보였다”고 밝혔다.

According to the industry on December 13, 2023, Bitcoin fell by more than 5 million won at 4 a.m. the previous day without any special adverse events, pushing it to 55 million won. It fell sharply after maintaining the 60 million won mark for the first time in two years for nearly a week. In terms of daily drop, it is the highest in four months since August 18th. The main reason for the sharp decline is profit-taking selling. As Bitcoin rose for eight consecutive weeks until last week, the selling trend to realize profits was prominent. Bitcoin’s rise rate over the past eight weeks is 61.2%. In fact, according to Coinglass data, the long positions liquidated the previous day amounted to $353 million (KRW 463.4 billion). This is also the largest in four months.

 

Joel Kruger, market strategist at LMAX Group, said, “With this drop, the price of Bitcoin has come down from the overbought level,” and added, “From now on, a rally toward a new high may continue.” There is also optimism that a rebound will continue immediately. It is expected that buying momentum will increase due to the Bitcoin spot exchange-traded fund (ETF), which is expected to be approved next month, the halving scheduled for April next year, and expectations for the end of austerity measures. Cryptoquant analyst Mac.D said, “Bitcoin has plummeted 8%, but from a fundamental perspective, there is a lot of demand to buy Bitcoin depending on whether the spot ETF is approved in January next year,” and “Because the market is not yet overheated, “It is highly likely that there will be a rebound soon after this adjustment,” he said, optimistically. A CryptoQuant analyst at CryptoOnchain also predicted, “There may be a short-term price adjustment due to excessive surges, but it could turn into a bull market given that the withdrawal volume from Bitcoin exchanges continues to be high.” Bitcoin being withdrawn from virtual asset exchanges means that the amount of Bitcoin that can be sold is decreasing. This suggests that the selling pressure that causes prices to fall is decreasing accordingly. Meanwhile, there was also an opinion that this sharp decline was an adjustment that had already been predicted. More than 50% of currently traded Bitcoins have a price lower than the current price at the time of purchase. More than half of investors who bought Bitcoin are making profits. CryptoQuant said in a report the previous day, “When the Bitcoin profit rights ratio rose to 50%, all of them showed adjustments at the highest point.”
