구글이 암호화폐 신탁 펀드 광고를 허용하도록 한 것이 비트코인 현물 ETF 승인 신호일 수 있다는 기대가 확산하고 있다. 2023년 12월 11일 외신들에 따르면 미국의 거대 기술 기업 구글이 암호화폐 신탁 펀드에 대한 광고를 허용하도록 암호화폐 광고 정책을 개정했다. 이러한 움직임은 분석가들이 미국 증권거래위원회(SEC)가 1월에 비트코인 현물 ETF를 승인할 것이라고 예상하는 가운데 이루어졌다. 구글은 이번 정책 개정이 2024년 1월 29일부터 적용될 것이라고 밝혔다. 중요한 것은 이 정책이 미국 내 고객을 대상으로 암호화폐 신탁을 제공하는 광고주에게 적용된다는 점이다.

 

또한 구글은 이러한 암호화폐 신탁에 “투자자가 대규모 디지털 화폐를 보유한 신탁의 주식을 거래할 수 있는 금융 상품”이 포함된다고 설명했다. 그러나 광고주는 특정 요건을 충족해야 하고 구글의 인증을 받아야 한다. 인증 요건 중 일부에는 운영 중인 지역의 현지 법률을 준수하는 것도 포함된다. 업계에서는 구글의 이번 정책 개정이 암호화폐 관련 광고에 대한 거대 기술 기업의 태도 변화를 보여주는 것으로 해석한다. 2018년 3월 암호화폐 광고를 금지한 이후 구글은 암호화폐 광고에 대한 규제를 점차 완화해 왔다.

Expectations are growing that Google's decision to allow cryptocurrency trust fund advertising could be a signal of approval for the Bitcoin spot ETF. According to foreign media on December 11, 2023, American technology giant Google revised its cryptocurrency advertising policy to allow advertising for cryptocurrency trust funds. The move comes as analysts expect the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to approve a Bitcoin spot ETF in January. Google announced that this policy revision will take effect from January 29, 2024. Importantly, this policy applies to advertisers offering cryptocurrency trusts to customers in the United States.

 

Google also explained that these cryptocurrency trusts include “financial products that allow investors to trade shares of trusts that hold large digital currencies.” However, advertisers must meet certain requirements and be certified by Google. Some of the certification requirements include complying with local laws in the areas in which you operate. The industry interprets Google's policy revision as showing a change in the technology giant's attitude toward cryptocurrency-related advertising. Since banning cryptocurrency advertising in March 2018, Google has gradually eased regulations on cryptocurrency advertising.
