<바이낸스 악재>
미국 월스트리트저널 등에 따르면 바이낸스는 미국의 자금세탁방지 관련법 위반 혐의를 인정하고 43억 달러(약 5조 5천억원) 상당의 벌금을 내기로 미국 정부와 합의했다. 이번 일로 바이낸스 창업자이자 최고경영자(CEO)인 자오창펑은 현직에서 물러났다.
바이낸스는 자금세탁방지 제도를 제대로 운용하지 않아 하마스 등과 관련된 개인, 북한과 기타 제재 관할권에 있는 이들이 바이낸스 플랫폼을 사용할 수 있도록 한 혐의 등을 받고 있다고 가상화폐 전문매체 코인데스크는 보도했다. 특히 바이낸스는 이번 합의의 일환으로 미국 시장에서 완전 철수하기로 한 것으로 알려졌다.
<Binance bad news>
According to the Wall Street Journal in the U.S., Binance admitted to violating the U.S. anti-money laundering law and agreed with the U.S. government to pay a fine worth $4.3 billion (about 5.5 trillion won). Due to this incident, Binance founder and CEO Zhao Changfeng stepped down from his current position.
Binance is accused of failing to properly operate the anti-money laundering system, allowing individuals related to Hamas and others and those in North Korea and other sanctions jurisdictions to use the Binance platform, CoinDesk, a virtual currency media outlet, reported. In particular, Binance has reportedly decided to completely withdraw from the U.S. market as part of the agreement.
