미국 증권거래위원회(SEC)가 이더리움 현물 ETF를 승인한 이후 또 다른 알트코인 현물 ETF 승인에 대한 기대감이 커지고 있다. 시장 전문가들은 올해 미국 대선과 ETF 영향으로 알트코인 강세장이 다시 찾아올 수 있다는 분석을 내놨다. 미국 증권거래위원회 SEC는 지난달 23일 반에크 등 자산운용사가 신청한 이더리움 현물 ETF를 승인했다. 다만 증권신고서 승인 절차가 아직 남아있어 실제 거래는 다소 늦어질 것으로 예상된다. 업계에서는 올 하반기 이더리움 현물 ETF 거래가 시작될 수 있을 것이라고 예상하고 있다. 시장에서는 또 다른 암호화폐 현물 ETF 출시를 점치는 목소리도 있다. 제프 켄드릭 스탠다드 차타드(SC) 디지털 자산 연구책임자는 “이더리움 현물 ETF 승인은 다른 암호화폐도 증권으로 간주되지 않을 수 있음을 시사한다”면서 “솔라나, 리플 등 더 많은 암호화폐 현물 ETF가 내년 승인될 수 있을 것”이라고 전망했다. 미국 투자은행 TD코웬도 “이더리움 현물 ETF는 여러 암호화폐 ETF를 위한 길을 열어 줄 수 있다”고 말했다.

 

이더리움을 제외한 다른 알트코인 ETF는 승인 가능성이 희박하다는 반론도 적지 않다. 글로벌 금융사 JP모간은 “미 SEC는 솔라나 등 다른 토큰은 증권으로 분류돼야 한다는 의견이 강하다”면서 “관련 법안이 나오지 않는 한 이들 현물 ETF가 승인될 가능성은 낮을 것”이라고 밝혔다. 알트코인 시장이 현물 ETF 호재로 상승 모멘텀을 얻을 것이란 분석도 나온다. 암호화폐 전략가 마이클 반 데 포프는 “이더리움 현물 ETF로 암호화폐의 증권성 문제가 해소돼 알트코인의 평가 가치도 높아질 것”이라고 전망했다. 그러면서 “지난 4개월 동안 비트코인 현물 ETF로 자금이 쏠렸고 알트코인은 상대적으로 저평가됐다”며 “향후 알트코인의 상승폭은 더욱 커질 수 있다”고 말했다.
