비트코인이 고용지표 둔화로 상승 전환하자 1억원 재돌파에 대한 기대감이 커지고 있다. 재돌파에 성공할 경우 최고가를 경신할 것이란 전망이 잇따른다. 월가 전문가들은 비트코인이 몇 주 내 고점을 경신한다면 ‘상승장 2막’을 열 것이라고 봤다. 예상대로 2막이 열린다면 비트코인은 2억원까지 뛸 것이란 전망이다. 최근까지만 해도 비트코인은 상승 동력을 잃었다는 평가를 받았다. 2024년 5월 23일 상반기 마지막 호재였던 이더리움 현물 ETF 승인(19B-4)이 실현됐음에도 뚜렷한 움직임 없이 횡보했기 때문이다. 설상가상으로 비슷한 시점에 터진 마운트곡스 상환 우려와 일본 거래소 해킹 사건 등은 투심을 더욱 위축시켰다. 하지만 이날 반등으로 1억 재돌파와 상승장 2막에 대한 기대가 다시 커지자 이를 이끌 유인에도 관심이 쏠린다.

 

대표 재료는 금리인하 기대감과 비트코인 현물 상장지수펀드(ETF) 유입세 등이다. 미국 노동부가 2024년 6월 4일 공개한 구인&이직보고서(JOLTS)에 따르면 지난 4월 구인 건수는 805만9000건으로, 전월 대비 29만6000건 줄었다. 지난 2021년 이후 최저 수준이다. 고용지표는 미국 연방준비제도(Fed)가 기준금리 인하 여부를 좌우할 변수로 주목하는 요소다. 해당 요소에 따라 금리인하 기대감이 커지면 위험자산에 속하는 가상자산은 오르는 경향이 있다. 여기에 오는 2024년 6월 6일 예정된 유럽중앙은행(ECB)의 통화정책회의도 기대감을 더한다. ECB가 이번 통화정책회의에서 기준금리를 0.25%포인트 인하할 것이란 전망이 나와서다. ECB의 금리인하로 유로화가 약해지고 유동성이 증가한다면 위험자산인 가상자산의 매력은 더 커질 전망이다. 대선을 앞둔 미국 정치권의 기류 변화도 상승 촉발제다. 8500만 미국 가상자산 투자자 표심을 얻기 위해 친 가상자산 행보를 보이고 있기 때문이다. 한때 비트코인을 사기라 칭했던 도널드 트럼프 전 대통령은 이미 공식 찬성론자로 돌아섰으며 가상자산에 강경했던 조 바이든 대통령 역시 규제 완화로 입장을 바꿨다. 특히 최근 이더리움 현물 ETF 승인은 트럼프를 의식한 바이든 행정부의 입장이 반영된 결과라는 분석이 나온다.

According to the Job Recruitment & Turnover Report (JOLTS) released by the U.S. Department of Labor on June 4, 2024, the number of job openings in April was 8,059,000, a decrease of 296,000 from the previous month. It is the lowest level since 2021. Employment indicators are a factor that the U.S. Federal Reserve System (Fed) pays attention to as a variable that will determine whether to lower the base interest rate. Depending on the relevant factor, as expectations of an interest rate cut increase, virtual assets, which are considered risky assets, tend to rise. In addition, the European Central Bank's (ECB) monetary policy meeting scheduled for June 6, 2024, also adds to expectations. This is because there is a prediction that the ECB will cut the base interest rate by 0.25 percentage points at this monetary policy meeting. If the euro weakens and liquidity increases due to the ECB's interest rate cut, the attractiveness of virtual assets, which are risky assets, is expected to increase. Changes in the political climate in the U.S. ahead of the presidential election are also a trigger for the rise. This is because they are showing pro-virtual asset moves to win the votes of 85 million U.S. virtual asset investors. Former President Donald Trump, who once called Bitcoin a fraud, has already officially become an advocate for it, and President Joe Biden, who was hard on virtual assets, has also changed his stance to easing regulations. In particular, analysis suggests that the recent approval of the Ethereum spot ETF is a result of the Biden administration's stance being conscious of Trump.
