가상자산 대장주 비트코인이 2024년 3월 11일 1억원을 돌파했다. 앞서 지난 2017년 11월 1000만원을 넘어선지 76개월 만에 10배 이상 오른 셈이다. 달러 기준으로도 사상 최고가를 갈아치웠다. 코인마켓캡 기준으로 비트코인은 현재 7만1400달러를 넘겼다. 원화 가격과 비교하면 약 700만원 가량 싼 가격이다. 비트코인이 1억원을 돌파한 것은 역사상 처음 있는 일이다. 이는 지난 1월 미국에서 승인된 현물 상장지수펀드(ETF)를 통해 막대한 자금이 지속적으로 유입된 효과다. 비트코인에 대한 수요 폭발이 가격 상승을 부추긴 것이다.

 

실제로 세계 최대 자산운용사 블랙록은 현물 ETF 출시 두 달 만에 약 20만개의 비트코인을 사들였다. 이는 단일 상장사 중 비트코인을 최대로 보유한 마이크로스트래티지보다 큰 규모다. 40여일 앞으로 다가온 반감기도 매수세를 추가로 촉발했다. 현물 ETF를 통한 수요 폭발에 공급 충격까지 겹호재 나타난 상황이다. 비트코인 공급량이 절반으로 주는 반감기는 내달 19일 전후로 발생할 전망이다. 현재 유력하게 알려진 날짜는 오는 4월 22일이다. 앞서 지난 3번의 반감기마다 비트코인 가격은 크게 올랐다.

In fact, BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, bought about 200,000 bitcoins in two months after the launch of spot ETFs. This is larger than the microstrategy, which holds the largest bitcoin among single listed companies. The half-life with about 40 days to go also triggered buying. The explosion of demand through spot ETFs and supply shock are also booming. The half-life that Bitcoin supply gives in half is expected to occur around the 19th of next month. The most likely date is April 22. Earlier, Bitcoin prices have risen significantly in the past three half-lives.
