루이지애나주가 미국 내에서 암호화폐 결제를 공식 허용하며 디지털 화폐 채택을 선도하는 주가 됐다. 루이지애나주 재무장관 존 플레밍은 주민들이 비트코인(BTC), 비트코인 라이트닝 네트워크, 미국 달러에 연동된 스테이블코인인 USDC로 다양한 주 서비스를 결제할 수 있게 됐다고 발표했다. 플레밍은 주정부가 암호화폐를 결제 수단으로 허용했으며 수납된 자금은 미국 달러로 즉시 전환된다고 강조했다. 이를 통해 암호화폐의 변동성으로부터 주정부를 보호하고 디지털 자산 수용에 대한 우려를 해소하기 위한 조치다.

 

실제로 루이지애나주 야생동물 및 어업부에서는 이미 비트코인 라이트닝 네트워크를 통해 첫 암호화폐 결제가 이루어졌다. 루이지애나는 암호화폐 결제 방식으로 인해 발생할 수 있는 변동성을 최소화하기 위해 이를 즉시 달러로 전환하는 방식을 채택한다. 이러한 결제는 주 정부가 지정한 서비스에 한정되며 현재로서는 암호화폐로 세금을 납부할 수 없다. 루이지애나주는 이 같은 방식을 통해 디지털 자산을 보다 안전하게 활용할 계획이다.

Louisiana has officially allowed cryptocurrency payments in the U.S., making it a leading state in the adoption of digital currency. Louisiana Secretary of the Treasury John Fleming announced that residents will be able to pay for various state services with Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Lightning Network, and USDC, a stablecoin linked to the U.S. dollar. Fleming stressed that the state has allowed cryptocurrency as a means of payment and that the funds received are immediately converted to U.S. dollars. This is a measure to protect the state from the volatility of cryptocurrency and to resolve concerns about accepting digital assets.

 

In fact, the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has already made its first cryptocurrency payment through the Bitcoin Lightning network. Louisiana adopts a method of immediately converting it to dollars to minimize the volatility that may arise from cryptocurrency payment methods. These payments are limited to services designated by the state and cannot pay taxes in cryptocurrency at this time. Louisiana plans to use digital assets more safely through this method.
