2025년 하반기부터는 삼성전자, 현대차처럼 자본시장법상 전문 투자자로 분류된 상장사와 전문 투자자로 등록한 법인의 코인 투자도 허용한다. 금융 투자 상품 잔액인 100억원 이상인 기업이 이에 해당한다. 다만 4대 금융 지주 등 금융회사, 자산운용사, 사모펀드, 기금 같은 각종 금융 관련 법인은 제외된다. 이 기준에 따르면 코인 투자가 가능한 법인은 3500여 개(상장사 2500여 개)로 추정된다. 이에 따라 ‘한국판 스트래티지’가 등장할 수 있게 됐다. ‘스트래티지’는 소프트웨어 서비스 기업이지만 세계에서 비트코인을 가장 많이 보유한 미 나스닥 상장 기업이다. 정부는 금융회사 등의 가상 자산 투자 허용 여부는 장기 과제로 남겼다. 금융위 관계자는 “금융회사는 가상 자산 투자에 따른 위험이 금융 시스템 전체로 옮겨갈 수 있는 점 등을 고려했다”고 말했다. 금융회사가 가상 자산을 보유할 수 없으면 ETF(상장지수펀드) 등을 운용하는 게 불가능하기 때문에 관심을 끌었던 가상 자산 현물 ETF의 국내 도입도 같이 미뤄지게 됐다. 이날 정부 방침에 코인 업체들은 환영했다. 업비트 관계자는 “정부가 발표한 법인 계좌 로드맵이 성공적으로 정착할 수 있도록 협력하고 투자자 보호를 위해 더욱 노력하겠다”고 했다. 일각에서는 코인 시장에 지나치게 많은 자금이 밀려들면서 시장이 과열되고 국내 증시가 위축될 수 있다는 우려도 나온다.

The government has left it a long-term task to allow financial companies and other companies to invest in virtual assets. "Financial companies have considered the risk of virtual asset investment that could transfer to the entire financial system," a Financial Services Commission official said. The introduction of virtual asset spot ETFs, which had drawn attention, will also be delayed in Korea because it is impossible for financial companies to manage ETFs (listed funds) if they cannot hold virtual assets. Coin companies welcomed the government's policy on the day. "We will cooperate to ensure that the corporate account roadmap announced by the government is successfully settled and make more efforts to protect investors," an Upbit official said. Some worry that too much money is poured into the coin market, which could overheat the market and dampen the domestic stock market.
