메리츠증권이 글로벌 회사 간 합병 비율을 제대로 반영하지 않은 채 주식 거래를 진행 투자자 혼란을 일으켰단 비판을 받고 있다. 2025년 2월 21일 업계에 따르면 전날 나스닥시장에서는 하이드마가 거래되기 시작했다. 하이드마는 기존 나스닥 상장사인 MGO글로벌(MGOL)과의 합병을 통해 시장에 데뷔했다. 합병 비율은 30대 1이었다. MGO글로벌 주식을 30주 보유한 기존 주주는 새로 상장하는 하이드마 주식을 1주 지급받는 식이다. 이처럼 기존 주주 권리가 변경될 경우에는 혼선을 없애기 위해 길게는 1주일간 기존 주주의 거래를 제한하는 경우가 많다. 때문에 국내 증권사들은 전날 기존 하이드마 주주들의 거래를 제한하는 조치를 취했다. 하지만 메리츠증권은 별도 제한 없이 기존 주주의 거래를 허용한 상황에서 합병 비율을 제대로 반영하지 않아 MGO글로벌 일부 주주들에게 주식 1주당 하이드마 주식 1주를 지급했다. 이런 상황은 전날 나스닥 프리마켓(개장전 거래)에서 한국 시간으로 오후 6시부터 약 1시30분 동안 벌어졌다. 메리츠증권은 오후 7시30분께 이 문제를 인지하고 1시간30분 동안 체결된 매수·매도 거래를 모두 취소했다. 투자자들은 사측 착오로 하이드마 주식이 과도하게 시장에 풀리면서 주식 가치가 희석돼 피해를 봤다는 입장이다. 메리츠증권 측은 "직원 개인이 합병 비율 계산을 않고 단순 티커명을 바꾸면서 생긴 실수로 전산상의 문제는 아니다"라며 "피해를 입은 투자자들에게 개별 보상을 할 계획"이라고 입장 발표했다.

Meritz Securities is being criticized for causing confusion among investors by conducting stock trading without properly reflecting the merger ratio between global companies. According to industry sources on Feb. 21, 2025, Hydma began trading in the NASDAQ market on the previous day. Hydma debuted on the market through a merger with MGOL, an existing Nasdaq-listed company. The merger ratio was 30 to 1. Existing shareholders who hold 30 shares of MGO Global will receive one share of Hydma stock, which will be newly listed. When the existing shareholders' rights are changed in this way, existing shareholders' transactions are often restricted for up to one week to eliminate confusion. For this reason, Korean securities firms took measures to restrict transactions of existing Hydma shareholders on the previous day. However, Meritz Securities failed to properly reflect the merger ratio at a time when it allowed existing shareholders to trade without any restrictions, and thus paid one share of Hydma to some shareholders of MGO Global. This situation took place at the Nasdaq pre-market the previous day from 6:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Korean time. Meritz Securities recognized the issue at 7:30 p.m. and canceled all buy-and-sell transactions that were concluded for an hour and 30 minutes. Investors say that they suffered damage due to the dilution of the value of the stock as Hydema stock was excessively released into the market due to a management error. Meritz Securities said, "It is not a computer problem due to a mistake caused by an individual employee changing the name of a simple ticker without calculating the merger ratio," adding, "We plan to compensate the affected investors individually."
