일론 머스크는 올해 말까지 트위터 CEO에서 물러나고 후임자를 찾는 것을 목표로 하고 있다고 블룸버그가 2023년 2월 15일 보도했다. 일론 머스크는 2023년 2월15일 두바이에서 열린 세계정부 써밋 화상 링크를 통해 트위터에서 물러나기 전까지 트위터의 재무적 건정성과 명확한 제품 로드맵을 포함한 경영 상황을 안정화시킬 것이라고도 밝혔다. 일론 머스크는 “트위터가 올해 말쯤 안정될 수 있을 것으로 생각하기 때문에, 연말이 또 다른 리더를 찾기에 좋은 시기라고 생각한다”고 말했다. 일론 머스크는 또한 트위터에 대한 자신의 비전과 플랫폼에서 잘못된 정보를 제거하기 위한 노력에 대해 광범위하게 언급하면서 “트위터가 진실의 출처가 되기를 원하며 기업, 다른 CEO와 각국 장관들이 공격을 받더라도 진실되게 말할 것을 권장한다”고 덧붙였다. 일론 머스크는 “비판 좀 받는 건 괜찮다. 그렇게 나쁘지 않다. 나는 트위터에서 끊임없이 공격을 받는다. 신경쓰지 않는다”고 말했다.
