차세대 메모리 기술인 CXL 테마는 올해 5월부터 인공지능(AI) 반도체로 시작된 고대역폭메모리(HBM) 열풍에서 지난달 온디바이스 AI를 거쳐 반도체주 랠리를 이끄는 또 다른 테마가 될 수 있을지에 관심이 쏠리고 있다. CXL 테마는 삼성전자가 상표 4개를 출원한 것이 알려지면서 관련 수혜주를 찾는 투자자들의 관심을 끌었고 SK하이닉스는 지난해 CXL 개발에 본격적으로 뛰어들었다. 지난 2022년 9월 인텔 '이노베이션 2023' 행사에서 CXL 2.0 메모리를 선보이기도 했다. 인텔은 내년에 CXL 2.0을 지원하는 첫 제품을 공개할 예정이다. CXL은 중앙처리장치(CPU)와 그래픽처리장치(GPU), 메모리 등을 다른 전자부품과 연결하는 통신 방식인 인터페이스에서 서버 증설을 최소화하면서 처리 용량을 늘릴 수 있다는 평가를 받는다.

Attention is focused on whether the CXL theme, the next-generation memory technology, can become another theme that leads the semiconductor stock rally following the high-bandwidth memory (HBM) craze that started with artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductors in May of this year and last month's on-device AI. The CXL theme attracted the attention of investors looking for related beneficiaries as it became known that Samsung Electronics had applied for four trademarks, and SK Hynix jumped into the development of CXL in earnest last year. CXL 2.0 memory was also introduced at Intel's 'Innovation 2023' event in September 2022. Intel plans to release its first product supporting CXL 2.0 next year. CXL is evaluated as being able to increase processing capacity while minimizing server expansion in the interface, which is a communication method that connects the central processing unit (CPU), graphics processing unit (GPU), and memory with other electronic components.
