2024년 7월 23일부터 이더리움 상장지수펀드(ETF)가 거래된다는 소식으로 비트코인이 6만5000달러를 돌파했다. 이는 전일 로이터 통신이 이더리움 ETF가 2024년 7월 23일부터 거래가 시작될 것이라고 보도했기 때문으로 보인다. 로이터는 업계 소식통을 인용, 미국 증권감독 당국인 증권거래위원회(SEC)가 2024년 7월 23일 이더리움 ETF 거래를 위해 최소 3개 자산운용사의 8개 ETF에 대해 예비 승인을 했다고 전했다. 예비 승인을 받은 자산운용사는 블랙록, 반에크, 프랭클린 템플턴 등 3곳으로 2024년 7월 22일 오후 최종 승인이 내려지면 2024년 7월 23일부터 거래가 시작될 전망이다. 비트코인이 상승하자 시총 2위 이더리움도 2.35% 상승하는 등 대부분 암호화폐가 랠리하고 있다.

Reuters cited industry sources and said that the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the U.S. securities regulator, gave preliminary approval for eight ETFs of at least three asset managers for trading in Ethereum ETFs on July 23, 2024. There are three asset managers that have received preliminary approval: BlackRock, VanEck, and Franklin Templeton, and when the final approval is given on July 22, 2024, trading is expected to begin on July 23, 2024. As Bitcoin rose, most cryptocurrencies are rallying, with Ethereum, the second-largest market capitalization, also rising 2.35%.
