<코인 과세 2027년까지 2년 연기>
가상자산에 대한 과세가 또다시 2년 미뤄진다. 정부는 과세 인프라를 구축하기 위해 시간이 필요하다는 입장이지만 그간 공언한 과세 시기를 또 다시 늦추면서 정책 신뢰도가 떨어질 수 있다는 우려가 나온다. 기획재정부는 2024년 7월 25일 서울 명동 은행회관에서 세제발전심의위원회를 열고 이 같은 내용을 담은 ‘2024년 세법 개정안’을 확정했다.
정부는 가상자산 소득에 대한 과세 시기를 2027년 1월 1일로 늦추는 내용의 소득세법 개정안을 다음 달 27일 국무회의에서 의결한 뒤 오는 9월에 열리는 정기국회에 제출할 예정이다. 가상자산에 대한 과세가 연기된 것은 이번이 세 번째다. 당초 정부는 2022년부터 발생한 가상자산 소득에 대해 소득세를 매길 예정이었지만 과세 시기는 2023년으로 한 차례 미뤄진 다음 다시 2025년 1월로 다시 연기됐다. 이날 확정된 세법개정안이 국회를 통과할 경우 과세 시점이 2027년 1월로 또 늦춰지게 된다.

Taxation on virtual assets will be delayed by two years again. The government says it needs time to build a taxation infrastructure, but there are concerns that the credibility of the policy could be undermined by delaying the taxation period once again. The Ministry of Strategy and Finance held a Tax Development Review Committee meeting at the Myeongdong Bank Hall in Seoul on July 25, 2024, and confirmed the revised tax law in 2024.
The government plans to submit an amendment to the income tax law to the regular session of the National Assembly in September after deciding at the Cabinet meeting on January 27, 2027. This is the third time that taxation on virtual assets has been postponed. Initially, the government planned to impose income tax on virtual asset income generated from 2022, but the taxation period was postponed once to 2023 and then again to January 2025. If the revised tax law, which was finalized on the day, passes the National Assembly, the taxation period will be delayed to January 2027.
