월가의 톰 리는 이 회복세를 이어 하반기에는 15만달러(약 2억원)을 돌파할 것으로 전망했다. 최근 일본 가상자산 거래소 마운트곡스가 파산 후 비트코인 상환을 시작할 것이라는 예상이 나오면서 비트코인 시세는 악영향을 받았다. 마운트곡스는 2010년 설립된 세계 최고 규모 거래소였으나 2014년에 해킹으로 파산 절차를 밟았다. 이에 2024년 6월 25일에는 비트코인 물량이 대거 시장에 쏟아질 것이라는 우려가 심화되었고 비트코인 투자 심리가 흔들리며 6만달러 선이 무너졌다.

 

펀드스트랫 전략가 톰 리는 CNBC 인터뷰에서 “마운트곡스 파산으로 시장에 풀릴 90억 달러 상당의 비트코인을 해소하게 되면 하반기부터는 본격 상승할 것”이라 전했다. 그는 “이번 달을 계기로 마운트곡스 리스크가 모두 해소될 수 있을 것”이라 분석했다. 이어 “비트코인이 하반기에 본격적으로 반등하는 과정을 겪은 뒤 연말에 15만 달러(약 2억원)를 충분히 돌파할 것”이라고 강조했다.

Wall Street's Tom Lee predicted that the recovery would continue and exceed $150,000 (about 200 million won) in the second half of the year. Recently, the Bitcoin price was adversely affected due to expectations that Mt. Gox, a Japanese virtual asset exchange, would begin repaying Bitcoin after bankruptcy. Mt. Gox was the world's largest exchange established in 2010, but went bankrupt due to hacking in 2014. Accordingly, concerns intensified that a large amount of Bitcoin would pour into the market on June 25, 2024, and Bitcoin investment sentiment was shaken and the $60,000 level collapsed.

 

Fundstrat strategist Tom Lee said in a CNBC interview, “Once the $9 billion worth of Bitcoin that will be released into the market due to the bankruptcy of Mount Gox is resolved, there will be a full-fledged rise starting in the second half of the year.” He analyzed, “This month will be an opportunity for all Mt. Gox risks to be resolved.” He continued, “After Bitcoin undergoes a full-fledged rebound in the second half of the year, it will sufficiently surpass $150,000 (about 200 million won) by the end of the year.”
